Thank you for participating in Circle City Summer 2022!
In order to make this event run as smooth as possible, please familiarize yourself with the WCA Regulations.
If this is your first time competing, it may be intimidating when you first walk in. To mitigate this, please watch this video that explains the basics of a cubing competition. Note that we may make minor changes to the flow of the competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Any changes will be explained in the competitor tutorial.
Here are some frequently asked questions:
Q: Do I use my own cube to compete?
A: Yes, and they must comply with the WCA Regulations.
Q: Can I add or remove an event from my registration?
A: Not a problem. Send us a message through the contact link, and we will gladly change the events for which you are signed up.
Q: What are cutoffs?
A: Cutoffs are times that competitors must reach within their first two solves in order to perform the remaining three solves of the average (For events like 4x4x4 and 3x3x3 One Handed in this competition). We use them because we would like to expedite the competition as much as possible while still being fair.
Q: Can I come spectate?
A: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask that only competitors attend. Competitors will each be permitted to bring one guest.
Q: Do I have to be present for events I'm not competing in?
A: No. You only have to be at the venue for the events in which you are competing. Click the schedule tab for more information. With that said, we recommend that you arrive early to give ample time to practice before competing.
Q: How do I find results?
A: Live results will be available on https://live.worldcubeassociation.org during the competition. This is also where you will find if you moved onto the 2nd round of any event. Once finalized, the results are posted on the WCA competition page.
Q: What is there to do when I'm not competing?
A: There are numerous tables where people can practice and hang out with other cubers.
Q: Are there age divisions?
A: All competitors compete in the same group.

There are plenty of restaraunts within walking distance in the surrounding plaza. Food and Drink, however, will not be permitted in the venue.
Free parking will be provided around the venue.
Competitor groups and volunteer groups can be viewed here after the registration deadline.
We segment our competitors to compete in "groups" at a time. For example, while group 1 is competing, group 2 will be free and can practice, socialize with other cubers, or volunteer to help out with the competition if they wish.
We are assigning each competitor a group for every event they are registered for. Shortly before the event, we will post which group(s) you've been assigned to, below. When you arrive, you will also receive a nametag with personalized information detailing your events and what group you will be competing in for each event.
In addition, you may also receive assignments for helping with judging and running. For each event you sign up for, you will be assigned to help out for one group of that event.
Additionally, while we will have a few designated staff members volunteering all day, we may make additional calls for help with judging, running, and scrambling throughout the day and encourage all competitors to help out in order to keep the competition running smoothly.
If you reach the time limit during your solve, the judge will stop you and your result will be DNF (see Regulation A1a4).
The result to beat to proceed to the second phase of a cutoff round (see Regulation 9g).
The format describes how to determine the ranking of competitors based on their results. The list of allowed formats per event is described in Regulation 9b. See Regulation 9f for a description of each format.
